I don't really like to...

Came aboot this Canadian Rapper name Shad over the weekend. His other stuff has not caught my attention, but this really stood out to me. The song is called "I don't really like to" I'm feeling the video too, although after seeing it made me think of Kid Cudi's new video for Day & night. Both are good videos and worth a watch.

Diamond District (Oddisee, X.O., Y.U.)

Washington has been all the rage with talk of change lately, but it hasn't been limited to inside the White House. The DMV's Music community is feeling that change, making 2009 the perfect time to get new local music out. Diamond District is a new collaboration from the DMV (DC, Maryland, Virgina) XO, YU and Oddisee. The 1st single off thier new album is hot shit to me. Very boom-bap "95ish", with a ODB hook. I can't wait for the full album "In the ruff" that will be released for free April 14th at www.diamonddistrictdmv.com/ The Neptune's, Clipes, WALE, and Tabi Bonney all rep DMV. Anyway here is Diamond Districts first single from In the Ruff-

Passion Pit

Heard this when it dropped in Sept. 2008. I nearly shit myself with joy, I recall laughing at how good it was... sounds odd, but it was such a pleasant surprise to hear. It really is one of those songs that gets in your head and makes you want to hear it over and over. Originally, the set of 6 songs was a Valentine's Day gift from Mark Angelakos to his girlfriend that became popular throughout Emerson College, which he was attending. Passion Pit started in late 2007 and were quickly recognized in the Boston music scene after a few shows. A year later - Sold out shows in New York, PSP commercial, MTV shows, on a New York based record label... This was the only CD i purchased in 2008. Hhmm.

Speed finger painting on old projectors

I know its common to mix music with art... but this is the first time I have seen it done like this, projector speed finger painting.

Vervue on the visual art.
Dimlight on the ear art.

Bullion Beach Boys vs. Dilla

I've been stuck on this U.k. Producer Bullion lately. His producing blew me the fuck away! Couple months back he fused The Beach Boys' Pet Sounds, and J Dilla's beats. Shit is well put together and very original sounding to say the least. You can notice the influence of J Dilla's sound because he creates similar chopping techniques, messing with the harmonies and using the vocal snippets as instruments in many tracks. You can download the full mix for free here Pet Sounds: In the Key of Dee

I just wasn't made for these times.

New years

Okay. 1st blog. March 21st, Spring, always has been a favorite day of mine. In astrology, the day of the Equinox is the first full day of the sign of Aries. It is also the traditional first day of the astrological year. Birthday to DJ Premier, Kevin Federline, Brian Janis, and Rosie O'Donnell to name a few. Persian (Iranian) New Year's Day.. Nowruz. It is an ancient ritual and a time for renewal. Also celebrated in many other countries of Asia. Did I mention March 21st is also World Down Syndrome day (really). So what this basically means is March 21st is not just another day, Its filled with tons of excitement all over the world. This is a resent clip from Obama's Nowruz speech to the Iranian people.
